We offer self-hire punts for the College Backs and self-hire canoes,
kayaks, punts and rowboats for Grantchester. Our canoes, kayaks and
rowboats are all stable, wide-beam designs, which are suitable for
less experienced users.
Although punting requires a fair sense of balance, most people acquire
sufficient expertise without undue difficulty. Our staff are always on
hand to offer tips if required. For those wanting to put in a little
advance preparation we have produced a
punting technique page with some handy hints. The BBC's recent
"Bluffer's
guide to punting" may also provide inspiration!
Each punt comes supplied with a pole, paddle and cushions, each
canoe is equipped with two paddles, each rowboat with a pair of oars
and each kayak with a paddle. Life-jackets are available upon request
to hirers of punts and rowboats. Life-vests are supplied as
standard to hirers of canoes and kayaks and must be worn.
Before the start of hire we require a security deposit of a credit or
debit card imprint. This is refundable upon the safe return of the
craft and its equipment. Please click here to

The maximum capacities of self-hire craft are as follows: 6 persons
per punt (including the punter), 5 per rowboat, 4 per canoe, 2 per 2-person kayak and 1 per
1-person kayak.
